The name Guerrilla Counseling was born out of my frustration with the kind of mental health support I was finding for myself and friends when there was need. And the support found was either stale, inaccessible, or disingenuous. The term “Guerrilla” is meant to bring up the notion that these services don’t need to cost an arm and a leg, that the solutions can be outside of the expected. Services can be provided in your standard remote telehealth format, or in-person in a coffee shop, or on a walk in the park (post conversations about privacy of course). It’s less important that we do things that are conventional and more so work out what actually works for what your lifestyle is versus what kind of life you’re striving for.
